Collage / Contrasting Spaces

Although this seems like a very simple and banal collage without a lot of thought put into it, without seeing it as a whole - as one image, instead; focussing on each fragment individually, I believe it's possible to find really interesting potentials - space making tools.

My interest for this project is to give modern reinterpretation to the given Ukiyo-e image. Images from my concrete and lead model will be superimposed with layers of different scenes or plots narrating different conditions of environment. These conditions will be narrated at multiple and constant scale change (e.g. scale change in plots from Alice in Wonderland) but is within the whole concept of the original image.

Surface Mapping

Measurements taken from the surface of the lead and concrete by using the measuring device were plotted against grids that were shifted at every 10mm intervals. These drawings are showing the construction sequence of the lead formwork and the concrete cast in detail.

General Bathymetric Chart- for Ainé

This is also featured in Visual Explanations (Tufte) where colour gradation is used to indicate depth. Also a sea level datum is represented using colour differentiation. You could also introduce a datum to your own mappings, indicating a particular feature or threshold. Note also the grey lines- shipping channels, and the coloured contours- so as to emphasize the whole land mass- and differentiate from the sea. Your mapping could also have similar analytical + representative features
