Ukiyo-e / High Rocks by a Lake

Rocks, vegetation and water change in colour, size and strength in time.

In the painting, High Rocks by a Lake, the rocks are defined both in different colours and sizes according to their properties and their location when it’s observed in a certain perspective.

Oxidation, wind and water erosion, sunlight and earthquakes change the physical appearance of the nature.

This adaptation process is both predictable and unpredictable at the same time.

Even though these forces, chemical reactions all can be foreseen, the way they will happen can never be pictured by human.

The hundreds of different parameters of the nature’s system can be a very interesting exploration for the beginning of the year.

Exploration can be done through a series of applications using acidic liquids, melting materials or burning them on top of each other.

The unpredictable future of a material can open the door to an interesting research for an architectural project.

There is almost no flat surface in the painting. Dense tectonic moves and possibly the volcanic nature cause this. These forces can also be imitated in order to start an interesting study.

Compressing different sheet materials with different properties can be an interesting direction to follow.
